Noortje, about Noortje

My art is born from a deep longing to return to what’s real.
To shed the layers placed by systems, borders, and concrete — and remember what it means to be human in nature.
Raised in the Netherlands, I grew up within frameworks that valued order and expectation. But it was in meeting world-renowned artists and witnessing their raw, expressive free ways of living that I discovered a different kind of truth — one that doesn’t conform, but grows. Art, for me, became a kind rebellion. A way to live closer to the pulse of the earth. To listen, respond, and reveal.
Each piece holds the raw energy of rhythm, earth, and movement.
They stir something alive — not just to look at, but to feel.
There’s warmth, unpredictability, and a sense of return.
An invitation to see, to feel, to slow down.
A call to grow — not over each other, but with what holds us all.
My work is not decorative.
It’s rooted. Unpolished. Alive.
Just like the earth that inspires it.

Art Roots Studio, part of Triple Gorilla Studios, is situated in a meticulously crafted residence built by O'Neil, with whom Noortje shares this rooted life. Together, they have transformed O'Neil's custom-designed home and music studio into a vibrant center of art, music, and Ital cuisine. Nest near Mangel Halto Beach in Aruba, the music studio embodies dreadlock Rastafarian vibes and offers breath taking views of Aruba's ocean and mountains.
Art Roots Studio, located in the garden, is surrounded by flourishing fruit and coconut trees that inspire nourishing meals, often created on woodfire that can be enjoyed in the beautiful surroundings or nature, art and music. Every visit is a truly enriching experience!
