Paintings

Noortje van der Kooi creates layered paintings in which human figures, animals, landscape, memory and cultural history flow into each other.

Working intuitively and (mostly) without

preparatory sketches, she uses acrylic paint alongside elemental pigments, oils, powders, clay, charcoal, metals and other materials carrying personal or symbolic meaning.
